The Princess and the Pea

豌豆公主

The Prince is not happy,

一个王子整日郁郁寡欢

he wants to marry a princess.

因为他想找一个真正的公主结婚。

He looks everywhere,

然而，他到处寻找，

he cannot find a princess.

公主总是很难找到。

He meets many princesses.

所见的人

Some are too old.

有的已进入暮年，

Some are too small or too big.

有的质如薄柳，有的臂宽腰粗。

Some are not beautiful.

有些相貌平平。

这一天，一个女人来到他的宫殿。宫外大雨倾盆。

“I'm a princess,” she said.

我是公主, 她讲。

“I need a bed.”

我需要一张床过夜。

The Prince likes the girl, but he does not think she is a princess.

王子很喜欢这个女孩，但是他对她是否是真正的公主心存疑虑。

He has an idea.

因此他有了一个计划。

Prince makes a bed for her.

王子为公主准备了一张床。

He puts a pea under 23 mattresses.

他在23厚床垫下放了一颗扁豆。

The next morning, the Prince talks to the girl

第二天早上，王子向公主问好。

“Oh, I am black and blue,” she says, “your bed is so hard.”

公主说：我浑身青一块紫一块，你这里的床太硬了。

The Prince thinks only a princess can feel the pea under those mattresses.

王子觉得只有真正的公主才能感觉到床垫上的扁豆

Only a princess is so soft.

只有真正的公主才有这样柔软的身体。

He asks “will you marry me?”

他问：你愿意嫁给我吗？

The Prince and his princess take the pea to a museum.

博物馆里陈列着王子和她的公主，

Now everyone can see it.
