I agree with much of what Dragon Youth has said...
When I was a little girl, I spent a lot of time singing German songs with my great-grandmother. She was Austrian. I played the piano, my father played the accordion, and my great-grandmother played the guitar-- and we sang dozens of German and Austrian folk songs in German. I grew up loving foreign languages.
When I was in elementary school, I learned Spanish, but the focus was on speaking and listening. I was able to participate in simple conversations with my teacher and classmates. Then, in high school (gao yi), I started learning the German language, including grammar and reading. It was very easy for me and my pronunciation of German was quite good-- of course because of my experiences as a young girl.
Now I can speak 6 or 7 languages (at different levels of profiency), and my two daughters speak many languages as well. Effective language learning often is a result of accumulated exposure to the language, positive experiences, positive role-models, and good teachers.[此贴被 susanch
