大家好，我是汤姆。

Tonight's Bedtime Story is all about a supervillain.

睡前故事的主角是一个非常大的反派。

This guy is really naughty, very cheeky and bright green, but never fear because where there's trouble, a superhero is sure to follow.

这家伙很调皮，很调皮，一身翠绿，但是大家不必害怕，麻烦找上门，自有超级英雄来解围。

The story is called "Supertato", and it's by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet.

Some vegetables are frozen for a very good reason.

有些蔬菜需要冷冻是有原因的。

It was night-time in the supermarket and all was quite.

超市里华灯初上，万籁俱寂。

But crash, bang! Something had escaped from the freezer.

突然听到砰的一声，有东西逃离了冰柜。

Something small and round, and green.

小的，圆的，全身嫩绿。

Something looking for trouble.

它想捣乱。

Big trouble.

想捣大乱。

"Help, help!" cried Carrot. "I'm stuck to the conveyor belt."

胡萝卜惊叫："救命，救命！""我被卡在输送带上。"

"Ugh!" cried Broccoli. "Someone's drawn on my face."

"啊！"西兰花大叫一声，"有人在我脸上乱涂乱画。"

"Mmph! Mmph!" cried Cucumber.

黄瓜呜呜呜说不出话来。

Who was doing this and was there anyone could help these vegetables in distress?

谁在捣乱？谁来拯救这些深陷困境的蔬菜？

Supertato to the rescue.

土豆冲锋在前。

He used his super-speed.

他启发了人的神速。

He used his super-strength.

发挥强大的神力。

He used a frannel and some soapy water.

巧用面巾和肥皂液。

"I know who's behind this," said Supertato. "There's a pea on the loose."

"我知道谁在捣蛋，"他说道，"一颗扁豆正在逃窜。"

"Oh, no! Not a pea!" everyone gasped.

"哦！不！"众菜皆惊。

"Yes, a pea."

"是的，就是扁豆。"

"But I'm out of the freezer now and I'm never going back."

"自从我逃离了冰柜，就不想让我回去。"

这个邪恶的扁豆迅速逃脱，继续作乱。

"Time for a dip, little veggies."

"入锅洗澡吧，各位菜菜子。"

"Now, that's enough!" shouted Supertato.

"够了，停下来！"土豆侠喊道。

He leapt towards the pea, but the pea popped out of his hands and vanished in to the air.

言罢飞身扑向扁豆，但扁豆却逃离了他的手心，转眼间消失了。

Supertato set out on a super-search.

打开超级搜索方法的土豆侠。

He crept through the cakes, he checked the cheese, he snuck up on the beans.

他消失在点心区，仔细检查每一块奶酪，偷偷靠近豆子柜台。

And then, something caught his eye.

突然发现眼睛。

"The game's up!" yelled Supertato.

大喊大叫的土豆侠"就这样！"

But pea bounced out of reach and on to a trolley.

没想到扁豆闪身逃跑，跳上了购物车。

Supertato was just about to stop him with his super-Strength when the trolley crashed and he was thrown down into the icy depths of the freezer.

土豆侠想用神力挡住扁豆，购物车突然翻车，土豆侠被撞倒在冰箱深处。

Was this the end of Supertato?

他就这样牺牲了吗？

Not quite.

还不至于。

But the pea was off his trolley and lying in wait.

然而，小扁豆早已跳下购物车，默默埋伏着准备进攻。

"You're finished, Supertato!" he shrieked.

"你死定了，土豆侠！"扁豆大喊。

But Supertato summoned up all his strength and ran for it.

但是土豆侠奋起一搏，全力逃离。

The pea nearly had him at the beans and closed in on him at the cheese.

扁豆在豆子柜台差点抓到土豆侠，在奶酪区也差点成功。

He had him cornered at the cakes.

在点心区，土豆侠被迫无路可走。

"So much for Supertato!" screeched the pea.

小扁豆大声取笑："土豆侠也不过如此。"

"You're about to be Mashed potato."

"我把你变成土豆泥。"

Surely this was the end for Supertato.

恐怕土豆侠这次是注定的。

"Not today, my friend," said Supertato.

"不容易，兄弟，"土豆侠回答。

"Gotcha!"

"抓到你了！"

"Mmph!" said the pea.

扁豆呜咽。

"Oh, yes," said Supertato. "I set my trap and you fell for it."

"这就对了，"土豆侠说，"这是你中我的计划。"

"Or should that IN it?"

"还是应该说落入我的陷阱？"

And he grinned a super-grin.

讲完后露出闪亮的微笑。

Supertato had saved the day.

他成功地拯救了所有人。

"Take him away," he said.

"将他带走，"土豆侠说。

And pea was marched back to the freezer where he belonged.

所以扁豆被人护送回冰柜，乖乖受冷。

"This jelly tastes of pea," said Broccoli.

西兰花说："这种果冻怎么有扁豆味。"

And everybody laughed and cheered.

花湖里的蔬菜人雀跃而笑。

So remember, folks, some vegetables are frozen for a good reason.

所以记住，有些蔬菜是要冻出来的。

Maybe you'd better go and check your freezer. . . just in case there's an escapee in your house.

也许你应该看看你的冰箱……在家里防止蔬菜逃犯。

Wow. That little pea caused a lot of mayhem, but luckily Supertato was there to save the day.

哇，那个小豌豆真是惹了不少麻烦，幸好土豆人及时出现，救了众生。

And now it's time for you to go to sleep.

现在你应该睡觉了。

Perhaps you'll dream of mischievous villains or brave Superheroes tonight.

也许你今晚会梦到淘气的反派，或者是勇敢的超级英雄。
